Chris Watts and his partner, Marissa Phillips, recently celebrated two years of owning a ComForCare franchise.
The challenge their organization faced was to consistently find a high volume of care givers.
After trying other recruitment sources without significant success, Chris and Marissa connected with WorkSource Oregon to assist with their recruitment needs.
When Chris chose a franchise, he tapped into a franchise which resonated with his personal experience. While Chris attended college, he provided care to his grandparents, which allowed them to remain in their home and honor their wishes. Chris shared, “Care givers are all heart” and he is looking for very special individuals to provide care for his clients.
ComForCare, has been impacted by the phenomena termed the “Silver Tsunami." Wikepedia describes the “Silver Tsunami” as “the rise of median age of the United States workforce…..and the increased need for geriatric care." Examples of geriatric care that ComForCare provides include assisting clients with their activities of daily living, such as grooming, bathing, personal hygiene needs, and meal planning and preparation. Their organization also provides companion care to clients. Companion care may include accompanying clients to a movie, playing cards and games, assisting with crafts, sewing, or gardening, or mall walking.
ComForCare also provides care to parents adjusting to having a newborn in the home. According to their website, www.greaterpw.comforcare.com, they provide meal planning and preparation, light housekeeping, and laundry, grocery shopping and errands, and sibling care.
Chris and Marissa are able to use the expertise of the Health Care Account Representative at each WorkSource Oregon office throughout the Portland Metro Area. ComForCare saves time and money by using WorkSource Oregon’s award winning database, iMatchSkills®™ . WorkSource Oregon’s designated Health Care Account Representatives may contact potential interview candidates, schedule group information sessions, or provide an interview space for an employer.
Another service offered by WorkSource Oregon is wage data for selected occupations. This information is available through WorkSource Oregon’s Labor Market Information System, www.qualityinfo.org. There are no additional fees for the services provided by WorkSource Oregon because employers have prepaid for the services through unemployment insurance tax.
Chris has been pleased with the services that Kristine Deardorff at WorkSource Clackamas and her colleagues, Frank Brown and Ella Usov at WorkSource Oregon provide. Chris states, “I have not found another single outlet to find the volume of Care Givers until I utilized the resources at WorkSource Oregon.
